The Butterfly Room

Ages 12 Months - 24 Months

Our Blossoming Butterflies room is for toddlers approximately 12-24 months of age. At this age, we continue to provide families with the daily reports and developmental guidelines for their child every three months. The children at this age love to explore their environment and are busy investigating their surroundings. The room is open for discovery, and the teachers are actively engaged in the daily fun! Each day we will focus on developing essential life skills each child will need throughout early childhood and beyond. These are very important times for children to develop physically, socially, emotionally, and academically. We will foster each child’s language development, art skills, musical awareness, fine and gross motor skills, sensory exploration, and so much more through developmentally appropriate activities.

Whether they perfect their walking, learning to use utensils, stacking cups, or rowing in our “boat,” our butterflies indeed blossom during this year. We see so much physical growth and can hear the changes as well! For example, their receptive language progresses from pointing or shaking their heads to answer a question to following a simple direction and beginning to express their language with words.

We also see more independence taking place during this year. They are beginning to wash their hands without assistance, they pick up their toys and remember where they go, they know which book they want to read (again), and they may even begin the early stages of potty training. This is a beautiful time for learning and growing, a time to develop the life-long love of learning!

  • “Peter Pan has been a blessing for my family. The teachers are always wonderful and welcoming and are willing to take on tough challenges alongside our family. They have prepared both of my children to enter school ready to learn, and I truly appreciate all of their efforts and kindness. As an elementary school teacher and someone who spent years working in preschools, I know how difficult their jobs are and how seldom they are adequately rewarded in any way, Peter Pan teachers rise above this and love children deeply.”
