“When we were making the decision to shift our daughter from being home with a family member to a preschool setting at the age of two, we were obviously a bit anxious about what that transition could be. From the minute we visited Peter Pan, we knew that it was the place where we should be sending her. It is so clear that the center is filled with people who truly love and care for each child. The staff takes the time to get to know each child’s individual needs and works to promote social, emotional, and academic readiness for the ultimate transition into elementary school. During our daughter’s time at Peter Pan, the teachers have fostered excitement and joy for learning and for that we are very grateful! Each morning when we pull into Peter Pan’s driveway, there is a big smile on our child’s face and we know that she feels like she is at her home away from home. Thank you, Peter Pan, for helping to provide a solid learning foundation in such child-centered, compassionate way.”

“PPLC has been my children's home away from home. The staff is phenomenal! They show so much love and care for all the children. It makes us so happy to know that our children want to go there each day. The PPLC staff helped us as first-time parents by helping us know when to introduce new things as our son grew and entered new milestone stages. Sue and the staff are wonderful with communication about important dates and upcoming activities. We also love receiving the pictures and updates about what the kids are doing during their time at PPLC.
During the pandemic and all the unknowns, I felt confident that Sue and the PPLC staff were doing everything they could to keep our little ones safe. I appreciated all the changes in procedures and the constant pivots they made with all the information that was available to them, so that they could remain open and take care of our kids. I can't say enough good things about PPLC and cannot imagine having my kids go anywhere else!”

“My husband and I have been very pleased with PPLC. In these uncertain times, we were forced to find new childcare for our daughter, then age 3. It was unnerving because a lot of the places we talked to had such harsh restrictions for allowing people to get to know them due to COVID. We felt uneasy but Sue welcomed us to the facility for a one on one tour, talked to us about our personal concerns around COVID, explained their processes and procedures and eased our minds. It helped to know the facility and the director and owner when dropping our child off. One thing that was hard for me was not being a part of her daycare as I'd oftentimes volunteered before COVID (at her previous facility). The teachers made it very easy to feel comfortable, constantly communicating with us both in person and using their app. The facility is open and clean and inviting and so that helped us feel more comfortable dropping our daughter off. They have a large beautifully maintained play area w/ lots of room to run and play. The other thing that was important to my husband and I was finding a place where she'd learn and grow academically. Peter Pan is accredited through the MD State Dept of Education, which was a requirement for us. She is now 5 and getting ready for kindergarten. She is so prepared. She has learned so much both academically and socially. They are not required to wear the masks, which to me is very important for her development. While still following the guidelines set forth by the state, Sue has been able to maintain open as much as possible as well as make things feel semi normal for these kids. Which, ultimately, has been the most important part for us. We will really miss PPLC and can't recommend these teachers and this facility enough. Best of luck in your decisions, we were very pleased with ours.”

“My husband and I enrolled our 2-year-old son, Jack at Peter Pan in the Fall, 2021. We had already heard wonderful things about the school but like any first-time parent, we were still nervous and wanted to make sure we made the right decision. I was convinced we picked the right school for our son on his very first day. All of the teachers especially Miss Christina (Jack’s teacher) and the owner, Sue made us feel extremely welcome and I truly felt like each and every staff member genuinely cared about my son and all of the children there. The first few days of school as expected, Jack would cry when I would drop him off. The teachers handled everything so well and made me feel so much better explaining that this is completely normal for a 2-year-old in new territory. They all made the process so much easier and after the first week or so, Jack couldn’t wait to go inside!
Everyone at Peter Pan, in my opinion, has handled the current pandemic protocols extremely well. I have never felt like Jack wasn’t safe and believe that PPLC staff members take every precaution necessary to make sure everyone is practicing the current guidelines given. Sue is very communicable and keeps everyone up to date on any Covid sickness. I personally feel well informed about anything happening at the school whether it’s Covid-related or not and have really appreciated all of the updates we receive.
I would highly recommend PPLC to any parent with young children and look forward to Jack’s future encounters with the school!”

“PPLC feels like another member of our family. All three of our children have attended, and we have been so happy with the love and personal connections all the staff have shown for them. Our kids look forward to going to PPLC every day, which is a huge win. We chose PPLC because of its outstanding reputation, commitment to outdoor and play-based learning, and small-center feel. We trust them to care for our most precious belongings, and know that they are growing and learning and having fun while we are away for so many hours each day. It is a wonderful place to make friends and experience the joys of childhood while also preparing them very well for school.”

“We have been so pleased with Peter Pan Learning Center. Sue and her staff have done an outstanding job with our two boys. When we transitioned our eldest son to PPLC we were concerned that the change in schools would negatively impact his learning. The opposite happened. Our son left PPLC more than prepared for Kindergarten. He has been performing above grade level in both math and reading since he started. We see the same promise in our youngest son. I recommend Peter Pan to everyone.”

“Both my girls attend Peter Pan Learning Center. My two-and-a-half-year-old has been going there since she was three months old and my one-year-old since she was five months old. I can't say enough great things about PPLC. From day one the Director and the teachers have welcomed my family and treated us just like we were part of their family. Not only is the Director warm, professional, and knowledgeable about the changing trends in education, but she makes it a point to be part of the classroom experiences as well. I have witnessed her on many occasions in a classroom either playing with the infants/toddlers or running a circle time for the older kids. She is always prompt in answering questions I may have as well as takes the time to listen and offer advice anytime I have a concern about one of my children. My two-year-old daughter talks about the Director just like she is one of the teachers. Most days we can't leave without saying goodbye to "Ms. Sue." The teachers are also very professional, knowledgeable, caring, and loving. Every single teacher at PPLC genuinely cares about each child that walks in the door. They truly take the time to know to get to know each child. They are dedicated to providing the best care and quality instruction for all kids. The academics at PPLC amaze me. Being an elementary school teacher myself, I know what is expected of kids when they enter Kindergarten. These teachers do an excellent job providing meaningful and authentic learning experiences that help each child grow both socially and academically. The curriculum they follow ensures that the children are more than prepared for the increasing demands and expectations of kids when they enter school. My two-year-old comes home every day showing me something new she learned in school. The teachers also do a great job communicating with the parents. I always know what is going on with both of my girls and what they are learning. This helps me reinforce the concepts at home. Both my girls love PPLC and love their teachers. Peter Pan Learning Center has more than met my expectations and I highly recommend this preschool. My daughters will certainly stay with PPLC until they enter Kindergarten. Thank you PPLC for having such a positive impact on my family.”

“As first-time parents just over four years ago, we were extremely anxious to select a child-care center. We looked and toured several different centers, but knew right away that Peter Pan Learning Center was the only place we could see sending our children. PPLC had a very different feel than any of the other centers we toured due to the family atmosphere, positive attitudes, and genuine care that staff showed toward each and every student. After touring Peter Pan and meeting many of the staff, we felt at ease about leaving our children in the hands of someone else and that our children would receive the best possible care. PPLC, by far, was the cleanest center we toured. The staff take pride in the center and it shows. The classrooms are colorful and decorated with student work, pictures of themselves, and pictures of their families. And, you could not ask for a better outdoor space. The children have multiple playgrounds and a large open field to explore. Not to mention the excitement the children have for the chickens and horses that are right next door.
Now, four years later both of our children are currently enrolled at Peter Pan Learning Center and we are even more grateful now then we were back then to have found PPLC! The teachers continue to be all-in with ensuring the safety and well-being of our children. I continue to be impressed by the creativity of the staff and the positive learning experiences they have provided for our children – our kids have learned so much socially and academically! Throughout the Covid-19 Pandemic, the staff continued to create engaging learning experiences for our children even when field trips and other activities were not able to occur. The communication that we received and continue to receive has been outstanding. Decisions for the center and our children are always made through the lens of what is best for kids. This has helped ease our anxiety during the pandemic knowing that the health and well-being of our children is the centers first priority. It has been a pleasure to see our children grow and learn at Peter Pan Learning Center and become part of the family atmosphere. We could not be more grateful to the staff at PPLC for taking such good care of our kids! At the end of each day, our children have been intellectually challenged, engaged in physical activity, and are excited to return the next day.”

“We joined the PPLC family in 2018, when our first child had just turned two. As first-time parents, we were a bit nervous to have our son begin his preschool adventure, however once we found PPLC, met the owner and staff and toured the program, we felt much more confident, and that confidence, trust and dedication has only grown exponentially over the past four years of our journey with this childcare center. We love the family atmosphere, as it’s been a family-owned and operated business since it’s inception over forty years ago. Every teacher and teacher’s aide has developed unique, impactful and lasting relationships with our son, and now our daughter who has since started attending. Our son is now five years old and has blossomed incredibly throughout these important formative years, undoubtedly due to the expertise, care and tireless nature of the staff at PPLC. Our daughter began attending the infant room at 10 months old and has since moved onto the toddler room and continues to thrive as a busy, inquisitive 18-month old.

> As we’ve seen in many industries, the private childcare programs and small businesses of our communities were hit exceptionally hard at the beginning of and during COVID, and throughout these confusing and frightening times, I remain impressed by Sue’s leadership and dedication to not only sharing pertinent information related to known exposures, changing guidelines and more, she has managed to navigate these treacherous and uncharted waters with grace, calmness and most importantly, understanding for all children, families and staff members, always putting everyone’s safety and emotional well-being above all else. Sue’s commitment and ability to keeping the center open and thriving is an honor to witness and she will always have my full support. I absolutely love PPLC, and feel incredibly fortunate we found it when our family needed it!”

“After touring several other local daycare centers, we were referred to Peter Pan Learning Center by a family member. We immediately fell in love with the open space property where the center is located, the family atmosphere, and accredited academic curriculum offered to the children. While most comparable daycare facilities in the area are situated within shopping centers, Peter Pan sits on two and a half acres of grassy land which is perfect for the children to freely play outside. Our almost three-year-old continues to amaze us with the knowledge he has acquired at Peter Pan - he already knows his colors, can count to twenty, and even talks about his emotions. His teachers are like our extended family and he has formed special bonds with them, meaning no tears at morning drop-off! We can't wait for his baby brother to join him at Peter Pan in a few months!
Specific to safety protocols, we have spent more time enrolled in care at Peter Pan during the COVID-19 pandemic than prior to it. At the beginning of the pandemic, the administration dealt with a very unfamiliar and fluid situation by applying for and receiving approval to open the center for essential personnel. They did so faster than the centers of our peers and allowed us to continue working as two parents in essential job functions, which was extremely important to us. Since then, we have been pleased with the safety measures, contact tracing procedures, and illness testing requirements that the center has required.”

“We adore PPLC and can’t recommend them enough. The teaching staff is incredible; they are transparent, prioritize parent collaboration and genuinely care for my child. My daughter loves them back just as much! She is excited to go to school each day and is eager to tell me about her day when picked up. PPLC has done an exceptional job in navigating the impossibly difficult Covid situation, and have simultaneously prioritized the children’s safety and maintaining some normalcy for their daily routines. I’m in awe of their dedication to our little ones and am so grateful for all of their efforts. I’ve always felt my child is safe and cared for, and feel that PPLC was a huge part of not only protecting my daughter’s mental health during the pandemic, but for her thriving and flourishing during these very formidable years. Thank you, PPLC!”

“Peter Pan Learning Center has been part of our family since 1983 when my oldest daughter started attending at age 2. We were new to Howard County and very happy to find a safe, happy environment for daycare. Both of my daughters attended PPLC over the years including the summer camp after they started school, and now my grandson attends full time too! The teachers take pride in what they do, providing a safe and nurturing learning environment for the children. The teachers genuinely care for the children. The center itself is located in the perfect setting off a quiet road in Marriottsville, providing the kids with acres to run and play! PPLC holds many special memories for me, my children, and now my grandchildren.”
