The Cricket Room

Age 3-Year-Olds

At his age, children are becoming more independent in their thoughts and actions, forming friendships, and developing a longer attention span.

The Creative Curriculum is used to explore various themes and both whole group and small group activities are explored.  Children learn best when the concepts, vocabulary, and skills they encounter are related to things the know and care about and when new learnings are interconnected in meaningful ways.  For example, at the beginning of our BALLS unit, children may be asked what they know about balls.  Responses may be recorded so that children can see the connection between spoken words and written language.  Children are encouraged to bring a ball to school where we discuss the different sizes, colors, and kinds of balls.  We may then go outdoors and use the balls to bounce, throw, catch, roll, kick, dunk,.. If children show an interest in a particular sport or activity, it will be explored further to enhance the learning process.

Social/ Emotional Growth: By age three, children are becoming more comfortable and confident in their speech, their bodies, and their thoughts.  Teachers provide regular opportunities for children to actively listen to and converse with their peers.    Children begin to understand the concept of taking turns in play, using imaginative play, and regulating their emotions.

  • “We've been very happy with our experience at Peter Pan. Both of my sons went there and I've recommended it to others. I love that the kids get time every day to play outside in their huge outdoor play area. That's something you can't find at any other center. All of the teachers we've had have been very caring and made Peter Pan seem like a second home.”
