The Bumblebee Room

Age 4-Year-Olds

If you have an older four-year-old for the 2021-2022 school year who is not eligible to enter public school kindergarten, please contact us for information on a program developed specifically for you. The program will be separate and distinct from that of this program. Please see the Blue Room / Firefly Page for more information.

For many children entering into our Bumblebee classroom, it is the last year before they move on to the more formal school experience of Kindergarten.  The goal of this year is to prepare the children with the social and academic milestones for success in their new environment.

The Creative Curriculum is used to explore various themes and both whole and small group activities are explored.  Whole group activities may include introduction of the letter of the week, a theme- based story is read where the author, characters, and setting are discussed, or a movement activity such as yoga is explored.  Small group activities are used to engage children in a variety of skills such as sorting and classifying, fine motor skills such as drawing or cutting, or even a science experiment.

Problem solving: in an effort to prepare students for more independence, teachers model and encourage calm, patient behavior and facilitate the children’s development of self- regulation by supporting them in thinking ahead, planning for activities, and using strategies to resolve conflicts with peers.

  • “Peter Pan Learning Center has always been an extension of home to my children. I always felt safe leaving all three of my boys in the capable hands of the teachers and knew that they would receive the love and encouragement they needed when they were there.”
